  • Drain peppers, reserving 1/4 cup liquid. Place meat in slow cooker; top with peppers, reserved liquid and dressing. Cover with lid.
  • Cook on LOW 6 to 8 hours (or on HIGH 4 to 6 hours). Remove meat from slow cooker, reserving peppers and 1-1/2 cups liquid in cooker. Discard excess liquid. Shred meat with 2 forks; return to cooker. Stir in cheese.
  • Serve in bread.


Prepare using KRAFT Tuscan House Italian Dressing.

I kept the recipe the same except I added the whole bottle of zesty italian dressing in hopes of keeping the meat moist, and it worked! My roast weighed around 3.5 lbs, so I cooked it on high for about 6 hours. Then I shredded it, drained some liquid from crock pot, replaced shredded meat, and added the parmesan cheese. Turned crock pot to low, stirred in cheese and let sit for about 15 minutes. The shredded meat was very tender and the cheese definitely added great flavor. I will definitely make again!!!

There is 1,210 mg of Sodium in a three inch sandwich! I also don't know who is only eating a 3" sandwich for lunch or dinner. Needless to say, I will not be making this recipe for my family.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Needed a little something I made this for the family to eat during the Superbowl. The only thing I changed is to add a diced onion. My opinion is that all savory meals need onions. Just our taste. It was good but needed more flavor. I think next time I will save half the roasted red peppers and half the dressing to add at the end with the cheese. Since they cooked for 8 hours a lot of the flavor cooked out of them. Otherwise, the meat was tender and very juicy. Had to discard a lot of juice.

I use my slow cooker often because with three kids, we have so much going on I don't have time to stay in the kitchen. My family was tired of regular barbeque sandwiches. The Italian Beef was a nice change. I used a little more dressing than the recipe called for originally.

My uncle who never had this before told me to send the recipe to my aunt so she could make it for him. It is an easy meal and you can really add anything you want to it like onions or mushrooms. We topped it with a slice or provolone cheese and toasted it.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from This was very easy to make. This was very easy to make. my meat was not as tender as I would have liked, I cooked it on high for 5 hours. However it did have a great flavor. I did not have enough dressing (my roast was almost 5lbs so I doubled the recipe) so i used an Italian garlic & herb marinade, not sure if I would use that particular brand again.

Great on nights that we go to the gym because I don't have to stand over the stove for 30-45 minutes. Cannot wait to have it again. Great part is, with it making enough for dinner and lunch, it ends up being very affordable!

This is my 'go-to' meal when we are having people for boxing matches or football games or whatever casual event we are hosting!! Always a crowd pleaser and what could be more simple put the ingredients in the crockpot and walk away till it is time to eat! The meat literally shreds its self.
