JELL-O Black Cherry Poke Cake Recipe

What You Need

baked 9-inch round white cake layers, cooled

2

cups boiling water

2

pkg. (0.3 oz. each) JELL-O Black Cherry Flavor Sugar Free Gelatin

1

tub (8 oz.) COOL WHIP Sugar Free Whipped Topping, thawed

Make It

PLACE cakes, top-sides up, in clean 9-inch round pans; pierce with large fork at 1/2-inch intervals.

ADD boiling water to gelatin mixes; stir 2 min. until completely dissolved. Pour over cakes. Refrigerate 3 hours.

DIP bottoms of cake pans in warm water 10 sec.; unmold. Fill and frost cake layers with COOL WHIP. Refrigerate 1 hour.

Special Extra

For colored frosting, gently stir a few drops food coloring into the COOL WHIP before using. Or, add desired garnish just before serving.

I'm sorry I have to say this, but I did not care for this cake. It's a pretty looking cake, but the end results... I could not taste the black cherry gelatin in the cake. It was rather bland tasting! It was a waste of time and ingredients!

Made this exactly as the recipe except i used only 1 box of jello. You could not tell the jello was sugar free at all. Will make again.

Love this recipe. I have always added one small pkg of vanilla (or lemon) pudding to the cool whip. It really adds to the topping. So Good!!

I make a version of this every year on the 4th of july. I make it in a Jelly roll pan and decorate it with raspberries, and blackberries to make a flag. My oldest daughters, bday is on the 4th and she just turned 37 and still thinks I should make it every year. Which I gladly do. it is also good with peach jello and fresh peaches on top.

I have been making this recipe for years and it is always a big hit. At Christmas time I use strawberry jello, St.Patricks Day lime jello, grape jello at Easter and for birthdays what ever favorite of my family and friends. It is an inexpensive treat for all. My daughter's friends all ask for it when they visit.

I also made this for St patty's day and did the lime jello instead with green cool whip....so yummy I am now making it again for my daughter to take to daycare for her 4th birthday party only this time I am going to do 2 different jello flavors!

Made white cake with green jello for St. Patrick' Day! Yum! Added a tiny bit of green jello powder to the Cool Whip and wow! So awesome!
