Make It

Tap or click steps to mark as complete

  • Add boiling water to gelatin mix in large bowl; stir 2 min. until completely dissolved. Whisk in COOL WHIP until blended. (Gelatin mixture will be thin.)
  • Pour into 10 glasses or dessert dishes, 1-1/2-qt. bowl or 6-cup mold sprayed with cooking spray.
  • Refrigerate 8 hours or until firm. If using mold, unmold dessert onto serving plate just before serving.

Size Wise

Since this indulgent dessert serves so many people, it's a great choice to serve at your next party.

Shortcut

Is the COOL WHIP still frozen? No need to worry. Just follow the recipe as directed, using the still-frozen COOL WHIP. Just be sure to stir the gelatin mixture until the COOL WHIP is completely melted as directed before pouring into the glasses, dessert dishes, bowl or mold.

Special Extra

If preparing dessert in mold, melt 1 oz. BAKER'S Semi-Sweet Chocolate as directed on package; pour into resealable plastic bag. Cut off small piece from 1 bottom corner of bag; squeeze chocolate over serving plate as desired. Refrigerate until firm. Unmold dessert onto plate just before serving.

Special Extra

Gently pat maraschino cherries with stems dry with paper towels. Microwave 2 oz. BAKER'S Semi-Sweet Chocolate in microwaveable bowl on HIGH 1 min.; stir until melted. Holding cherries by stems, dip into melted chocolate. Place on waxed paper-covered baking sheet. Refrigerate until firm. Use to garnish desserts.

Substitute

Prepare using 2 pkg. (3 oz. each) JELL-O Strawberry Flavor Gelatin.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This was such a show stopper! This was such a show stopper! I made this for thanksgiving...out of every dessert: pumpkin pie, cupcakes, traditional desserts in the family...this dessert stood out so much. Everyone was asking what it was. It literally took under 5 min. and the plate was emptied! I got a tiny piece...and it was heavenly: light, creamy, jello-y...it was truly different. Everyone thought it was complicated to make but little did they know it consisted of only 3 ingredients! Thank you so much craft foods...happy holidays :)))))

Rated 5 out of 5 by from the 1st time it turned out great! the 1st time it turned out great! everyone loved it, but i've tried to make it a couple of times since and it hasn't turned out. i dont know what im doing wrong. Its not setting up right, all the cool whip is just sitting on top of the jello in a very thin layer, there is no mousse about it. could i be mixing it too much or not enough? <<< Response from Kraft Kitchens Expert, Wendy ~ The Cool Whip should be completely incorporated into the JELL-O, so perhaps you did not mix enough. >>>

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I'm a diabetic, so this recipe really hit the spot. I'm a diabetic, so this recipe really hit the spot. Not only was it a snap to make, but it was delicious. So far, I've made it with sugarfree cherry, lemon, orange, strawberry & lime. When I serve it, I put some fresh on the plate around the bottom with a couple sprigs of fresh mint. It not only tastes GREAT, but it's very pretty. Thank you so much for this delightful dessert that my whole family enjoys with me. SMD

I think it calls for too much water, tried making it and had it in the fridge for 12 hours and it still did not look set up. When I removed it from the mold it totally flopped. Might try making it again with one cup less water. <<< Response from Kraft Kitchens Expert, Wendy ~ Be sure to use the 8-serving size package of JELL-O Brand Cherry Flavor Gelatin. Or, substitute 2 (4-serving size) packages. >>>

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I have made this recipe three times now, twice for coworkers. I have made this recipe three times now, twice for coworkers. Everyone loves it. I made a triple batch to take to work in a large container and it still turns out very nice. People think that it was more work than it actually was because of the two layers. I try not to tell my "secret" that it is only jello and cool whip. I've used it now as a desert and a side dish.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Magically d-e-l-i-c-i-o-u-s! Magically d-e-l-i-c-i-o-u-s! Magic Jell-O quenches the sweet tooth without the high calories, carbs, or sugar. I use 2 small (.03 oz) sugar free Jell-O packs and an 8 oz tub of lite cool whip. (The original recipe calls for 16oz cool whip.) I've made it both ways and don't taste a difference. I make this several times a month and my husband LOVES IT!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I made this for an office potluck. I made this for an office potluck. Everyone loved it. It was so easy to make. I made one strawberry and one lemon. I added on envelope of Knox gelatin to the jello and the jello came out firmer. I only had 3 8 oz containers of Cool Whip so I added 1 and a half to each and it came out perfectly. Will definitely make it again...SO EASY :)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My husband and I are on Weight Watchers and always counting points. My husband and I are on Weight Watchers and always counting points. I made this for Thanksgiving using the Sugar Free Jell-O and Cool Whip Lite, for 1/2 serving it was 2 points. It was very good and satisfying. This is a dessert that I make for everyday, just not holidays. I just pour it into small to go containers for work.
