This cake has seen its share of birthdays, holidays, and company parties, and it's always greeted with a "wow!" Surprise 'em at your next gathering with this classic.

Take 2 cups boiling water and 1 thawed 8-oz. tub COOL WHIP Whipped Topping, and mix & match your recipe from these options...

cake layer options JELL-O Gelatin choices
white cake Strawberry
yellow cake Berry Blue

chocolate cake Cherry

Then follow our 3 simple steps:

PLACE 2 (9-inch) round cake layers, top sides up, in clean 9-inch round pans. Pierce cakes with a chopstick or skewer at 1/2-inch intervals.

ADD boiling water to 2 combined pkg. (3 oz. each) JELL-O Gelatin in bowl; stir 2 min. until completely dissolved. Pour slowly over cake layers. Refrigerate 3 hours.

DIP 1 cake pan in warm water 10 sec.; unmold onto plate. Spread with about 1 cup COOL WHIP. Unmold second cake layer; carefully place on first cake layer. Frost top and side of cake with remaining COOL WHIP. Refrigerate 1 hour.
