While there’s no alcohol in this creamy frozen dessert, it sure tastes real. The hint of salt comes from the pretzel crust, while the citrus zip is in the creamy filling.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I haven't made this recipe yet. I haven't made this recipe yet. But I am excited to. I just wanted to say about people that cannot find the lemon lime koolaid. Crystal light has a lime margarita mix. I have had it, it is really good. It even has that bite of a margarita drink. Anyway just thought I would share.

I have made this pie nearly every week since it was featured in the magazine because my husband is addicted to it. Only change I make is to use a standard graham cracker pie crust because he's not a big pretzel fan. I don't mind making it, either, because it's so easy to whip together. We both love this as a dessert because it's so light and refreshing. Hubby's birthday is this month and he's requested that instead of his usual carrot cake birthday cake that I make this key lime pie!

I cannot believe those who don't like the salt in the pretzel crust and those who want to use an ordinary and boring graham cracher crust just don't get the purpose of a salted pretzel crust! It is, after all, a margarita pie. The salted pretzel crust represents the salted rim of a margarita drink glass. It is a must for this pie. That aside, this is too tart, if you just use a tablespoon or so of lime zest and the lime juice, I think it would be good also and maybe not so tart.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I can't believe anyone would leave out the pretzel crust. I can't believe anyone would leave out the pretzel crust. Without it you just have a plain old key lime pie. I did bake mine at 350 degrees for about 8 minutes. It turned out great. Very easy to slice and didn't crumble at all. I put a nice, big dollop of whipped cream on each slice and it helped to cut through some of the tartness. I will definately make this again. I might even substitute a tablespoon or so of tequilla for some of the lime juice. :)

What I ended up doing differently to this recipe was using two packages of Kool-aid lemonaide (my store didn't carry lemon-lime), the entire tub of cool whip, and I added a shot of tequilla to my measuring cup and added the difference in lime juice to equal the 1/2 cup called for. I tinted the mixture light green and added lime zest. It was a hit! I will definately do make again.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from I haven't made yet, but plan to. I haven't made yet, but plan to. To make for diabetics you could replace sugar with equal, use sugar free cool whip. I make my own condensed milk by heating a can of fat free canned milk with a heaping tablespoon of cornstarch until thickened. I then add 36 pkgs of equal, stir and cool in fridge. It looks and tastes like condensed milk and works well. I use this for cheese cake or anything that calls for condensed milk. You should try this sometime.

We have made and loved this recipe for years, but had troouble finding the Lemon-Lime KoolAid. After making a so so-key lime pie we went on a quest for the KoolAid to make this old favorite. Found it at our local Wal Mart Super store for $.20 and bought 10 packages. I'm a bit concerned it may go away again, so took the chance that actual shelf life exceeds the one marked on the package. Accept no substitutes; get the Lemon-Lime...

Thinking my husband would probably not like it, but made it anyway for a neighbor. Did my husband really like it! I've made three in the past 2 weeks. We liked the salty taste of the pretzels and it cut the tartness of the lime. The only thing I would change; is a little less of the pretzels and I think the crust would stay together better.
