My mom made these for my brothers and I and sold them to the neighborhood kids 30+ years ago. I have made them for my children. We didn't use wooden sticks, we froze them in cups and then we would squeeze them out of the cup and flip then over and put back in cups. Hey were called "Flips". They are wonderful treats and very refreshing!
