This lentil soup is made even heartier with the addition of bacon and thickly sliced OSCAR MAYER Wieners.

What You Need

slices OSCAR MAYER Bacon, chopped

small onion, chopped

clove garlic, minced

cans (15 oz. each) fat-free reduced-sodium chicken broth

1/2

lb. lentils, sorted, washed

small carrots (1/4 lb.), chopped

1/2

lb. potato (1 potato), chopped

OSCAR MAYER Wieners, cut into 1/4-inch-thick slices

1/2

cup BREAKSTONE'S or KNUDSEN Sour Cream

Make It

COOK bacon and onions in large saucepan 8 to 10 min. or until bacon is crisp and onions are crisp-tender, stirring occasionally. Add garlic; cook 1 min.

ADD next 5 ingredients; stir. Bring to boil; simmer on low heat 25 to 30 min. or until lentils and vegetables are tender.

SERVE topped with sour cream.

Substitute

Prepare using OSCAR MAYER Light Wieners and BREAKSTONE'S Reduced Fat or KNUDSEN Light Sour Cream.

Cooking Know-How

Before using lentils, place in a colander and rinse thoroughly. Discard any shriveled lentils or bits of dirt. Unlike beans, lentils do not need to be soaked before cooking.

Make Ahead

Soup can be prepared ahead of time. Cool, then pour into airtight container(s). Freeze up to 1 month. When ready to serve, transfer frozen block of soup to large saucepan; cover. Cook on low heat until thawed. Bring to boil on medium heat, then simmer on low heat 10 min. or until heated through, stirring occasionally.

I add it one tbs of basil ans one tbs of Knorr chicken bouillon and it came out super good!

I Eat this all the time my mom used to make this for me when i was little but she makes it a whole lot different because its a secret family recipe but this is some what similer and it taste almost as close to it but shes been making this for about 20 years. Everyone should try this.

This is one of my family's all time favorites. My husband and children love it! Yes even my picky 5 year old. I also make it when we have my entire side of the family visit. Very easy to make.

I make this all the time, and everyone always loves it, the only thing I change is that I take out the bacon, but it's still really good!

My husband loves lentil soup - tried this recipe and it was wonderful. Just as the recipe quotes...I would make no changes ...it was very very good. Have made it several times.

Segui la receta al pie de la letra, y nos encantó a todos. Mi niño de 3 años la devoró, y mi esposo, que no gusta de comer sopas cuando el clima es caluroso, dijo que había sido la opción perfecta!! (aunque afuera estaba a 103°F!!!)
