If you don't have an ovenproof skillet, simply cover the handle of your regular skillet with several layers of foil before using as directed.

I thought it was a little tasteless, but my husband liked it. I may add more onions next time, to put over a baked potato. I used real maple syrup. The meat was very tender.
From some of the reviews I read, some people think that it is bland. I will season the chicken well and caramelize the onions with the syrup. That should give it some good flavor; perhaps use red onions, little lemon or orange juice.
This is a very tasty comforting dish. Since I always use large chicken breast halves for everything I just doubled the amounts of everything else and added 1/2 tsp black pepper and 1/4 cup of white wine. That way there was plenty of sauce to go on the mashed potatoes served with it. Also I diced and crisp fried 6 strips of bacon and added it to the apple onion mixture on top. Instead of cooking spray I used bacon drippings to brown the chicken. I make this 3 or 4 times a year and it's always a hit plus it makes the house smell so wonderful while cooking.
