I made the meat into patties and cooked first as well. I put shredded cheddar cheese and parmesan cheese between the potato slices. I also added some cream of mushroom soup on top of the meat patties, before I baked this. The kids and I really liked the potatoes. My hubby is not a big fan of potatoes, but he liked the meat patty. Although, he ate it between two slices of bread, like a burger. So it was just too much work to make again, since we all thought it was just ok.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from This casserole was good. This casserole was good. It tasted like you were eating steak and potatoes. The only thing i didn't like was the price to make it. This dish was $10.00 to make and it served about 8 to 10 servings, which is quite pricey for a homemade dish. The ground sirloin was $2.99 per pound (recipe calls for two pounds), and the A-1 sauce was $3.99 and you use the entire bottle. YIKES! Next time I am going to try ground beef and only use half of the A-1, the whole bottle made this recipe quite strong and overwhelming with too much steak sause.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from i would make this again. i would make this again. super easy to make, and for my hard to please husband, it was a hit [a very hearty simple dish]. i used a generic bbq sauce instead & the last 15 minutes of baking i took it out to drain & then let it finish cooking. i was sceptical at first because of some of the comments, but i am glad i made it because it was great [ and with a large busy family - - it did not require a lot from me to prepare]. you can get creative or not, either way - - yummy!

I slice the potatoes VERY thin and sprinkle with Tony Cachere cajun seasoning between the layers along with several slices of Velveeta.Also,1/2 cup of chopped onion sprinkled in with the potatoes is also good.If you don't like A1 sauce, just make a simple meatloaf recipe.I've tried it both ways and it is very good.I also bake it for 1 1/2 hours to ensure the potatoes are done.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This has become one of my favorite meals. This has become one of my favorite meals. I've made some adjustments though, I add extra A1 to make it a little juicier (plus I love A1) and I add sliced cheddar instead of the shredded. I also leave out the potatoes, making it more like a meatloaf, but I've found that my family doesn't like the potatoes because they don't pick up much of the flavor from the meat.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Ehh. Ehh. I sliced the potatoes as thin as I could, came out perfectly cooked. I did have to dump all the grease out half way through and at the end too. But at the end of the day it was just meat on sliced potatoes. It was awesome in tortillas the next day though! I use kraft recipes for everything I cook. This just won't get cooked again.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I used crackers and worshire sauce because that is what I had available. I used crackers and worshire sauce because that is what I had available. It turned out great. I don't think there are enough potatoes though, but if you put too many they won't cook all the way through. I am concidering microwaving the potatoes for a little bit first so they will be partially cooked, then I can add more.

My husband and kids really loved this recipe, and I was happy to find a recipe that was not your ordinary meatloaf. I like that it had Items that I had on hand. Next time I will add salt and probably use a turkey baster to extract some of the grease that it has as the hamburger cooks. Very easy and tasted great!
