  • Mix pasta sauce and water in slow cooker; stir well. Add meatballs; stir gently until evenly coated. Cover with lid.
  • Cook on LOW 6 to 8 hours (or on HIGH 2 to 4 hours).
  • Fill buns with meatballs and sauce; top with cheese.

Special Extra

Prepare as directed, adding 1/4 cup KRAFT Grated Parmesan Cheese with pasta sauce and water; stir well.

Variation

Add 1 chopped red pepper and/or onion to pasta sauce meatball mixture, and heat as directed.

Special Extra

For easy cleanup, line slow cooker with plastic liner bag before filling with ingredients and cooking as directed.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from These were not too shabby! These were not too shabby! The main item I would change next time is I would not add the 1 cup of water; my sauce came out quite runny. I used generic brand frozen Italian-style meatballs, a canned Garlic & Herb spaghetti sauce, and the only things I added were a few dashes of salt n pepper and a pinch of sugar. I recommend not using a large sub bun unless you are using large meatballs - mine were a bit too small, so I cut the buns in half and then it was just fine. I didn't care for the mozzarella too much, but it wasn't bad. I did add crushed red pepper for a little punch from a suggestion & that made it really good. Overall, it was so easy to make and tasted great!

I added some chopped onion and red bell peppers along with some dry basil and oregano, as well as omitting some of the water so it was thicker. Delicious!
