Memorable Mocha Cake

What You Need

3/4
cup  butter or margarine
1-1/2
pkg.  (4 oz. each) BAKER'S Semi-Sweet Chocolate (6 oz.)
2-1/2
cups  flour
1
tsp.  baking soda
1/4
tsp.  salt
1-1/2
cups  sugar
3
 eggs
2
tsp.  vanilla
1-1/2
cups  brewed strong MAXWELL HOUSE Coffee, cooled

Make It

HEAT oven to 350°F.

GREASE and flour 13x9-inch pan. Microwave butter and chocolate in large microwaveable bowl on HIGH 2 min. or until butter is melted; stir until chocolate is completely melted and mixture is well blended.

COMBINE flour, baking soda and salt. Add sugar to chocolate mixture; beat with mixer until blended. Beat in eggs, 1 at a time. Blend in vanilla. Add flour mixture alternately with coffee, mixing well after each addition. Pour into prepared pan.

BAKE 40 to 45 min. or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool completely.

PREPARE Coconut-Pecan Frosting; spread onto cake.

Variation
This cake recipe can also be baked in 2 greased and floured 9-inch round pans. Prepare as directed, reducing the baking time to 35 min. or until toothpick inserted in centers comes out clean. Cool cakes in pans 10 min. before removing from pans to wire racks to cool. Fill and frost with Coconut-Pecan Frosting.
