  • Heat oven to 400°F.
  • Brown meat in large skillet; drain. Add water and VELVEETA; stir until VELVEETA is melted. Remove from heat. Stir in salsa.
  • Spread 1/4 of meat mixture into 8-inch square baking dish sprayed with cooking spray; top with 2 tortillas. Repeat layers 2 times. Top with remaining meat mixture and shredded cheese. Cover.
  • Bake 30 min. Uncover. Let stand 5 min. before serving.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This recipe is one of our favorites but I do make a slight change to mine. This recipe is one of our favorites but I do make a slight change to mine. The first time I made this my husband and I agreed it was missing something now after I've drained the hamburger I sprinkle it with taco seasoning to give it more flavor. And last night when I made it I couldn't find any Mexican velveeta so I used some cheese queso and still used the water and it was awesome. I also usually double the recipe so we have leftovers.

I did a few things different tho..i used refried beans like the recipe suggested but i also seasoned my hamburger with taco seasoning when it was cooking and added a chopped onion in with the meat also. I also used regular velveeta instead of the mexican kind which was suggested. All in all it was delicious and will definately be making again!!!!!

I too added a few things to the recipie... green peppers and onions to the ground beef mixture while browning as well as taco seasoning and a half can of kernel corn for some crunch( and more veggies) will certainly make again very soon!

I took it to my daughters house for her family when she had a baby and they liked it so well they got the recipe and made one themselves. I have shared the recipe several times with my friends and they all loved it!! This is definitely a keeper!!

I didn't have any velveeta so I made my own cheese sauce and instead of mixing it in with the beef I layered it on top. It was so cheesy, can't wait to make it again.
