Make It

  • Heat oven to 350°F.
  • Microwave chocolate and butter in large microwaveable bowl on HIGH 2 min. or until butter is melted; stir until chocolate is completely melted. Add sugar; mix well. Blend in eggs and vanilla. Stir in flour until blended. Spread onto bottom of 9-inch pie plate sprayed with cooking spray.
  • Bake 30 min. or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool completely.
  • Scoop out center of brownie with spoon, leaving thin layer on bottom and 1/2-inch-thick rim around edge. Reserve removed brownie pieces for later use.
  • Beat pudding mixes and milk in large bowl with whisk 2 min. (Pudding will be thick.) Stir in half the COOL WHIP and all but 1/2 cup of the reserved brownie pieces. Spoon into brownie crust; top with remaining COOL WHIP and reserved brownie pieces.
  • Refrigerate 2 hours.

I also helped make it for my mother in law to take to work and everyone raved. They all wanted the recipe. Though I cannot eat chocolate I will definitely make it again. I know that it was a fabulous pie as it didn't last very long and while it was being eaten no one was talking! Note: Since I could not find vanilla cool whip I added a teaspoon or so to regular cool whip. I used chocolate fudge pudding and drizzled hot fudge on the top. Very pretty pie and heavenly for chocolate lovers!

Aside from frozen cookies and cake mixes, I tackled this dessert at the first opportunity. The day before Thanksgiving I was up, bright and early, setting out on the experiment with great hesitance. But all my fears were quelled as I indulged in part of the brownie center that was necessary to scoop out and use elsewhere. I almost ate it all. To make a long story short, it was a big hit with the relatives and inspired my passion for making desserts and someday starting my own business and becoming rich and famous. Moreover, I love chocolate.

The first time I made it just like the recipe said; the second, I used a brownie mix for the crust because it was more convenient at the time. (I like the recipe crust better.) Both times I put some small chocolate chunks in the pudding and on top with the reserved brownie pieces. The chocolate chips gave you something to sink your teeth into as your tongue savored the pudding.

DIABETICS take note ~ HERE'S my twist for the holidays we made this with Splenda instead of Sugar; Fat Free/Sugar Free CHOCOLATE FUDGE instant pudding and Sugar Free Cool Whip! Everyone loved it and it fell in line with my diabetic family range of desserts. I don't know what the nutrition or diabetic exchange is but it's obviously better than the original recipe.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Being a chocoholic, I couldn't resist this recipe. Being a chocoholic, I couldn't resist this recipe. The only thing I would change is not in the recipe, but the description. Total time to prepare should account for the time it takes for the brownies to cool. I started this recipe at 1 p.m, and the pie was ready to serve by 7 p.m. It was awesome, and drew rave reviews from all. Everyone wanted the recipe!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My whole family loved it! My whole family loved it! It is easy to make and yet looks and tastes like it took a lot of work. My only suggestion is to cut small pieces. It is very rich! I had no trouble getting it out of the pan or having too much filling. I used a 9-inch glass baking dish rather than a standard pie tin which would not have been big enough with the tapered bottom.

I added chocolate chunks to brownies after reading reviews and i think it added texture to what could be a soft pie. Also used cook and serve pudding, i prefer it to instant. Took a little longer because it had to cool, but other than that super super fast and easy

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I love making this pie. I love making this pie. Everyone loves it too and it's about the only thing that comes out very good!! I make it a lot for work and events. When making this pie don't use the full amount of pudding that it ask for because it's a real mouth full. Try both the Vanilla and original Whip Topping both are good.
