What You Need

1
cup  milk
3/4
cup  plus 1 Tbsp. butter or margarine, divided
1/4
cup  sugar
1
tsp.  salt
1
pkg.  active dry yeast
1/2
cup   warm water (105°F to 115°F)
5
cups  flour, divided
1
 egg

Make It

PLACE milk, 1/2 cup of the butter, the sugar and salt in small saucepan; cook on low heat just until milk is warm and butter is melted. Set aside. Sprinkle yeast over warm water in large bowl; stir until yeast is completely dissolved. Stir in milk mixture. Add 3 cups of the flour; stir until well blended. Add egg; mix well. Gradually add enough of the remaining flour to form a soft dough, stirring until well blended after each addition. Place in greased bowl. Melt remaining butter; brush 1 Tbsp. of the butter onto top of dough. Cover with plastic wrap. Let rise in warm place about 1 hour or until doubled in volume.

PUNCH down dough; divide into 2-1/2-inch balls. Dip balls in remaining melted butter; place in layers in 10-inch tube pan. Place on baking sheet; cover with plastic wrap. Let rise in warm place 45 min. or until doubled in volume.

PREHEAT oven to 375°F. Bake, uncovered, 40 to 45 min. or until golden brown. Cool 5 min.; remove from pan to wire rack. Cool completely. Cut into 20 slices to serve.

Kraft Kitchens Tips

Special Extra
To add an easy glaze, just mix 1 cup powdered sugar with 5 tsp. milk. If necessary, stir in additional 1 tsp. milk until glaze is of desired consistency. Drizzle over cooled bread. Let stand until glaze is set.
Variation
Prepare as directed, using a 10-inch fluted tube pan, reducing the oven temperature to 350°F and increasing the baking time to 50 min. to 1 hour or until golden brown.
Special Extra
Prepare as directed, coating the dough balls with KRAFT Grated Parmesan Cheese after dipping in the melted butter.
