What You Need

cups HONEY MAID Graham Cracker Crumbs

cup BAKER'S ANGEL FLAKE Coconut

1/2

cup chopped PLANTERS Walnuts

1-1/2

pkg. (4 oz. each) BAKER'S Semi-Sweet Chocolate, divided

1/2

cup butter or margarine

pkg. (3.4 oz.) JELL-O Vanilla Flavor Instant Pudding

1/3

cup butter or margarine, softened

1/3

cup boiling water

cups powdered sugar

Tbsp. butter or margarine

Make It

MIX crumbs, coconut and nuts in medium bowl. Microwave 2 chocolate and 1/2 cup butter in microwaveable bowl on HIGH 1 min., stirring after 30 sec.; stir until chocolate is completely melted. Add to crumb mixture; mix well. Press onto bottom of 9-inch square pan. Refrigerate until ready to use.

BEAT dry pudding mix, 1/3 cup softened butter and boiling water in large bowl with mixer until well blended. Gradually beat in sugar; spread over crust. Refrigerate 15 min.

MICROWAVE remaining chocolate and 1 Tbsp. butter in microwaveable bowl on HIGH 1 min., stirring after 30 sec. Stir until chocolate is completely melted. Carefully spread over pudding layer. Refrigerate several hours or until firm before cutting into bars. Keep refrigerated.

Since this dessert makes 32 servings, it's a great treat to serve a crowd.

Make it Easy

To make cleanup and serving of the bars easier, line empty pan with foil or parchment paper, with ends of foil extending over sides of pan. Then use to prepare dessert as directed. When ready to serve, use the foil handles to remove the chilled dessert from the pan before cutting into bars.

I see two people who have never even tried this recipe have given it one star - which appears to be unfair. Therefore, I had to rate this recipe on just how good it sounds. With the ingredients listed, I can't imagine it being anything but ymmy. Perhaps the site should not allow a rating if the reader has not made the recipe. This would allow everyone to get a more accurate review from folks who have actually tried the recipe.

I used this recipe but I modified it a bit. I didn't use coconut because my husband doesn't like the taste and just adjusted up the graham cracker and walnuts to make up the difference. Instead of vanilla pudding, I used the pre-made Kraft Philadelphia Cream Cheese Cheesecake flavor. And they were really quite good and I got many compliments on them.

As someone who grew up eating Nanaimo Bars, I need to say that this IS NOT THE REAL RECIPE!!!!! In Canada (where the recipe originates) we don't use vanilla pudding or boiling water, we use custard powder and only 2 TBSP not 3.4 oz. also the bottom layer is not done the original way and this one doesn't taste the same. Sorry, but I for one will stick to the original recipe as it was intended to be made!

I CANNOT MAKE OUT THE PHOTO OF THIS RECIPE. THERE IS NO WAY TO ZOOM IN ON IT, BUT IT LOOKS AS THOUGH IT AS SILVER ON ONE END OF THE BAR. ALSO, IT SAYS SPREAD WITH MELTED CHOCOLATE, BUT I SEE THE VANILLA PUDDING LAYER NOT BEING COVERED WITH ANY CHOCOLATE. IT WOULD BE NICE TO HAVE THE "ZOOM" FEATURE ON THIS WEBSITE. THANK YOU

This was a big hit at our house.My husband loved this dessert so much he cant stop taking about it. Alsp this was easy to make!
