what you need

cup flour

tsp. CALUMET Baking Powder

1/4

tsp. salt

1/4

tsp. cream of tartar

1/4

tsp. sugar

1/4

cup (1/2 stick) butter or margarine

1/3

cup milk

Make It

PREHEAT oven to 450°F. Sift flour, baking powder, salt, cream of tartar and sugar in medium bowl. Cut in butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Add milk; stir with fork or spatula until soft dough forms.

PLACE on lightly floured surface; knead 8 to 10 times or until smooth. Pat dough lightly into 1-inch thick circle. Cut with floured 2-inch cookie cutter to make 8 biscuits. Place on ungreased baking sheet.

BAKE 10 to 12 minutes or until golden brown.

My husband said they were much better than the ones made from the package. We had them with broccoli cheese soup and they were quite tasty.

The flavor was good, but I did not care for the texture.They were very thick and compact. I know I made an error in making them too thin, because I ended up with 12 biscuits instead of 8. The flavor was good, so I will give this recipe another shot and try it again with thicker biscuits.

I have been looking for easy biscuit recipes for a while that didn't turn out like hockey pucks. I loves these biscuits and my kids finally praised me for a job well done. We had them with dinner then I put jelly on some in the morning. This will be added to my recipe book.

THIS RECIPE WAS SO EASY TO MAKE AND THE BISCUITS WERE LIGHT AND CRISPY I WAS LUCKY TO GET ONE I'LL DEFINATLY HAVE TO DOUBLE THE RECIPE NEXT TIME.

The only change to this recipe I made was to "not knead". I find that kneading biscuits tends to make them too dense. In not kneading this recipe I got a light, airy biscuit and complaints I didn't double the batch (what are you to do?) Very good overall. I would never rate a biscuit "superb"

I think you made a mistake I often make. Don't forget that tsp. means teaspoon not tablespoon. These were very ggod biscuits and very easy to make.

Did I do something wrong here? This recipe was so gross!! The biscuits were super dry and salty, I couldn't even finish one! I had to throw them all out. What a waste of time and ingredients!

I'm new to preparing breads so this recipe was a great one to start with & the biscuits were terrific!!
