What You Need

large Granny Smith apples (2 lb.), peeled, thinly sliced

1/2

cup packed brown sugar, divided

tsp. ground cinnamon, divided

1/3

cup old-fashioned or quick-cooking oats

1/4

cup cold margarine

Reduced Fat NILLA Wafers, crushed

cups thawed COOL WHIP LITE Whipped Topping

Make It

HEAT oven to 350°F.

TOSS apples with 1/4 cup sugar and 1 tsp. cinnamon. Spoon into 8- or 9-inch square baking dish.

COMBINE oats, remaining sugar and cinnamon in medium bowl. Cut in margarine with pastry blender or 2 knives until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Stir in wafer crumbs; sprinkle over apples.

BAKE 30 to 35 min. or until apples are tender. Serve topped with COOL WHIP.

How to Thaw COOL WHIP Whipped Topping

The best way to thaw frozen COOL WHIP Whipped Topping is in its container in the refrigerator. Depending on the size tub you have, the thawing time varies. Recommended thawing times are: 8-oz. tub - 4 hours; 12-oz. tub - 5 hours; 16-oz. tub - 6 hours. We DO NOT recommend thawing COOL WHIP Whipped Topping in the microwave.

This was okay. I crushed to cookies so much so that they became powder which threw everything off. It's not like what I used to have when I was younger but my best friend seemed to enjoy it a lot.

My mom made this and shared with me - wonderful! The Nilla wafers give the "crisp" a unique flavor. Great with vanilla bean ice cream! I will defintely make this for my family. Thanks, Mom!

I had to modify a bit since my husband can't have much sugar. I used Splenda brown sugar. . . used extra oats and added about 1/4 cup chopped pecans to the topping. YUM!

This recipe was excellent. Quick, easy and few ingredients. I had more apples so I used more cinnamon, oats & brown sugar. A Fall favorite - I will definitely make again!

Nothing to write home about, just granola on top of the apples... The same as store ones taste.
