Make It

Tap or click steps to mark as complete

  • Preheat oven to 400°F. Spray 13x9-inch baking dish with cooking spray. Place Macaroni in prepared dish. Stir in boiling water; cover with foil.
  • Bake 15 min., stiriing after 7 min.
  • Stir in Cheese Sauce Mix, milk and butter. Sprinkle with cheddar cheese and crushed crackers. Bake, uncovered, an additional 5 min. or until cheese is melted and crackers begin to brown.

Serving Suggestion

Balance this entree with smart side dishes. For example, choose a mixed green salad and steamed vegetable.

Substitute

For a triple cheese bake, substitute RITZ Cheese Crackers for RITZ Crackers.

Fun Idea

Make it festive by cutting green pepper into triangle-shapes for "trees" and red pepper into short strips for "trunks."

I have an entire collection of mac & cheese recipes that are all "from scratch," but this easy recipe is by far the best yet. I've made it three times since seeing the recipe, and it's always a hit. I use the smooth and creamy variety of mac & cheese, and it turns out just the way I like it: smooth, creamy and cheesy!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very good! Very good! The Ritz crackers add a mouthwatering taste that lacks in standard Mac & Cheese. My husband is not one for leftovers, but he makes an exception for this one! On my 2nd making of this recipe, I used spiral macaroni dinner which didn't hold up as well in oven as regular noodles.

My boyfriend was looking through my latest issue of Food and Family and saw this recipe. He decided HE was going to make it for dinner. It was delicious. The crushed Ritz on top gave it very nice flavor. It was so easy and quick to make. He will be making it again.

I made a half recipe and it tasted good, but I'm not sure it tasted different enough from the regular mac and cheese that I'd go to the trouble of baking it this way. I might add cracker crumbs and cheese to the top of the kind from the stove-top, however.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This was a great dish! This was a great dish! I made it for lunch on Christmas Eve for something simple but filling and it was gone in a FLASH!!! I added extra shredded cheese to the top but other than that followed the recipe. It really was simple but tasted great!

I like making casseroles to take other places - and this was a hit. The cracker crumbs and cheese on top is essential for this dish.
