  • Cook bacon in large deep skillet until crisp; remove from skillet. Drain on paper towels. Discard drippings from skillet. Add ground beef, mushrooms, onions and garlic to skillet; cook until meat is browned, stirring occasionally.
  • Crumble bacon. Add half the bacon to meat mixture in skillet with the tomatoes, pasta sauce and water; mix well. Cover; bring to boil.
  • Stir in pasta; simmer, covered, on medium-low heat 20 min. or until pasta is tender, stirring occasionally. Remove from heat.
  • Top with cheese and remaining bacon. Let stand, covered, 5 min. or until cheese is melted. Sprinkle with parsley.

Serving Suggestion

Serve with a mixed green salad tossed with your favorite KRAFT Lite Dressing.

Variation

Prepare using ground turkey or chicken, and/or substituting fresh basil for the parsley.

I thought it was REALLY bland, but with some salt, herbs, extra garlic and a bit of hot sauce, it turned into a decent meal. It makes a LOT of food. If you want to save yourself the trouble and calories of the bacon, just add a teaspoon of liquid smoke. It adds no calories to the meal but deliveries a great smoky flavor that the bacon seemed to lack in this dish.

(I followed the recipe except substituted green pepper for the mushrooms since my husband hates mushrooms.). Won't bother to make again.
