Size Wise

Since this ice cream cake makes 12 servings, it is the perfect dessert to serve at your next party.

The consistency of fudge topping can vary depending on what brand you purchase. If the fudge topping mixture is too thick to spread easily, stir 1/4 cup milk into the fudge topping before using as directed.

Prepare using your favorite flavor of ice cream sandwiches, such as Neapolitan or chocolate. If rectangular ice cream sandwiches are not available, use 18 of the smaller (square) sandwiches, using 6 sandwiches for each layer, placing them in 3 rows of 2 sandwiches each. Your cake will have a slightly different shape, but it will taste just as delicious.

Ratings & Reviews

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Really easy recipe! Really easy recipe! My first cake was made w/ neopolitan ice cream sandwiches. Looked really pretty when cut and the crushed oreos in the fudge definitely made it scrumptious. My 2nd cake was w/ vanilla-only sandwiches w/o oreos . Not as good as the 1st, but still disappeared just as fast. You have to work quickly before the ice cream melts (it helps if someone is there to help you unwrap ea individual sandwich). Wrapping in foil after frosting came out fine as long as you unfoiled it while still frozen. Altho, I whipped up fresh cream instead of using frozen from the tub. Everyone loved it and kept asking me for the recipe- so easy to tell AND make!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This was so much fun to make and so easy. This was so much fun to make and so easy. I followed the exact directions and cut calories where I could. Got rave reviews and great presentation. I had not trouble makeing this, the hardest part was unwrapping the ice cream sandwiches! I would recommend not taking all of the sandwiches out of the freezer at the same time as you assemble the cake. Take them out four at a time as you do each layer so they stay really frozen. Sliced beautifully, use a large sharp knife, and looked like you went to a lot of trouble. The fudge filling in the middle tastes like brownies! A real keeper!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I made a "grasshopper pie" version of this cake and it was exquisite! I made a "grasshopper pie" version of this cake and it was exquisite!!! I substituted mint ice cream sandwiches and use mint oreos and even added a bit of peppermint extract in the pudding mixture. Then, I combined about a quarter cup of marshmallow cream, peppermint extract, green food coloring, and folded in the whipped topping for excellent results. I topped it with chocolate shavings and a mint leaf and I have NEVER received so many compliments!!!

I just found this recipe a couple of weeks ago and I've already made this easy dessert a couple of times for my family. It is so easy to make and my family loves it. The first time I made it, I went strictly by the recipe and the second time I made it, I used Neopolitan ice cream sandwiches and strawberry cream tuxedos in place of the oreos. The next time I make it, I am going to try mint oreos with mint filled ice cream sandwiches. I don't think there's any way to go wrong with different variations. It's all a matter of what you like.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Wow, this cake was sooo good! Wow, this cake was sooo good! I made this for myself for my birthday and had planned to share some with the extended family. But my husband and I loved it so much that we have finished almost the whole thing in two days (we decided not to share)! It gets even better the longer it is in the freezer. I have some friends visiting from out-of-state in a week and plan to make it again for them! The cake was so easy to make and calls for such simple ingredients that it is well worth it. This recipe is certainly a keeper!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I made this for my sons b-day gathering and it was awesome. I made this for my sons b-day gathering and it was awesome. He is not a big cake eater but loves icecream. I was asked for the recipe and I loved how simple it is to make and how impressive it looks when you cut it and serve it. Next time I might try a different flavor ice cream sandwich, maybe. I did have to add milk to my fudge sauce because it was very thick. If your not an oreo fan (who isn't) than leave them out. I love oreos and will make this again. Way to go Kraft Foods keep up the good work..
