I was reluctant to prepare this recipe because I had not previously made banana bread containing cream cheese. However, the result was terrific ... tasty, moist, aromatic, excellent texture. Like others who posted comments, I added pecans instead of walnuts and Kraft Neufchatel (1/3 less fat) cream cheese, rather than the 'regular'variety. I doubled the recipe, which yielded seven lovely gourmet-sized loaves. I gave five of the seven loaves to friends, who raved about the bread and asked for the recipe. Prepare the recipe and then relax with a great cup of tea and enjoy every morsel of this outstanding bread!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Can this recipe be made with apples? Can this recipe be made with apples? How many would you recommend or if using canned apples how many are recommended? I would use the long Wilton Loaf Pan for this large bread. This pan is wonderful for large loaf recipes. Add cinnamon and vanilla to this recipe. Maybe add a ***** cheese frosting as well.

I followed the advice of earlier reviewers and added some extra banana and some vanilla. This was by far the most wonderful banana bread I've ever eaten. And something no one else has mentioned: it's also the best looking loaf of bread EVER! It's a large loaf, and puffs up above the confines of the pan. Honestly, this bread deserves its own photo shoot! As for overall quality, my hubby said it was definitely good enough to serve to company or give as gifts, but that he'd pout if he had to share.

I like my banana bread moist, and after reading all 135 comments, I added the 4th banana, vanilla, and cinnamon. It really is a huge loaf that can be divided in half for the short stumpy versions (and still probably make one regular loaf each). It's very moist, and I probably should have cooked longer since it was gooey in the middle. Oh,and I did add choc. chips. Still very delicious, big, and moist. My husband even went to buy 12 more bananas so I would make it again soon!

Having just moved, there are a lot of things not yet unpacked ... such as the reliable old recipes and my loaf pans. With these things happening, I did a few changes to this recipe. I added 2 tsp. of cinnamon and 1 tsp. of nutmeg to spice it up just a little, and baked it in a cake pan for a slightly shorter time. I made it less than a month ago and am making again today for our daughter's birthday cake (at our grandsons' request)!

This was the first time I attempted to make banana bread, but found this recipe to be very easy to follow. I agree with many of the other comments, very moist great way to rid yourself of overly rippened bananas. However, I will try to spice it up with some of the suggestions such as flavored cream cheese, vanilla, etc. It was missing something, but couldn't have been missing too much two loafs 24 hrs later its all gone :)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I make this bread ALL the time! I make this bread ALL the time! Everytime I visit my in laws they request that I bring "that wonderful banana nut bread". It is so easy and very delicious! I use 1/3 less fat cream cheese and pecans (I am from Louisiana) instead of walnuts. My oven is new so the bread is done between 1 hour and 1 hour 5 minutes. Any longer and the top (the best part!) starts to burn. I HIGHLY recommend this recipe to all!!!

I make this every year around Christmas and give it out to my friends as a Christmas present. I have not heard one bad thing about my breads. Matter of fact, they look forward to receiving their bread. I love this recipe, takes some time, but is well worth it. Does not last long in this household. I put pecans in it instead of walnuts since I am a pecan freak. Highly recommend this recipe.
