I love making new dishes using familiar products (like Kraft's Mac & Cheese), but am often disappointed with the results. My family finds these dishes are often bland/tasteless. I think the reason is that the receipt doesn't include seasoning for the added ingredients - this receipt includes a pound of meat without suggesting the use of even a little salt and/or black pepper. I am glad I read the comments & suggestions by other cooks before making this dish. I, too, added onion and garlic powder, but only used half the meat. I also substituted enchilada sauce and added chili powder, some mild canned jalapenos and some salt & pepper. No longer "italian" - but really tasty!!!

Can't believe adding stuff to a prepared dinner is considered a "recipe," that's the only reason for the one star. I've been making this for years with my own mac & cheese using canned tomatoes instead of sauce. You can use whole or diced, seasoned or not as you prefer. I also sometimes use large ham cubes instead of ground beef. And as with all mac & cheese, the more Velveeta, the better! You can hardly ever go wrong with meat, cheese, and pasta.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I made this dish for my husband when he had to work all night long. I made this dish for my husband when he had to work all night long. He said that he stayed full all night and even had some left overs for early in the morning when he got home. I used the Kraft Thick and creamy dinner and I cooked the meat with fresh garlic, onions, and some Italian seasoning. I used Velveeta cheese instead if the shredded cheese and we couldn't get enough of it. Served with Salad and garlic bread it was a perfect meal.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from This was super easy to make but VERY bland. This was super easy to make but VERY bland. It didn't taste like anything! Next time I might try pasta sauce instead of pizza sauce??? I also tried putting seasoned salt on it (eh) and then a pizza seasoning (mix of basil, oregano, garlic) and neither of those really did the trick. My husband tried some parmesan cheese on top and he said that helped a little. It definitely needs some kind of spice or something to give it a kick.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from So delicious. So delicious. Ingredients seems simple but somehow it just works together for deliciousness. Filling too. If you add a salad could easily feed a family of 4. Feel free to add seasoning to the meat when browning it...but it doesn't make much of a difference (as I forgot today). Lots of freedom to add different things (types of spices, cheeses, etc.) Perfect for busy family nights (or DINKS like us)...YUM!!!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from This was sooo easy and good - nothing spectacular, but great for a busy family! This was sooo easy and good - nothing spectacular, but great for a busy family! I made the mac & cheese and the beef in the microwave, and used spaghetti sauce instead of pizza sauce. Could probably be dressed up with mushrooms, peppers, broccoli, peas, etc. Definitely a keeper for my crazy-busy family!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Loved this! Loved this! I added garlic powder, seasoned salt, oregano, thyme, and basil to the meat while cooking for extra flavor, and used Velveeta Deluxe Mac and Cheese Dinner. It was so inexpensive and was completely delicious! Next time I might add some sour cream with the pizza sauce for extra creaminess.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from We made this last night and it was a hit. We made this last night and it was a hit. We doubled the recipe for a family of 6 and had a side salad all for less than $15, I was excited with that. Then when everyone of my picky eaters said they would love to have it again, I was in heaven. Great Recipe, quick and easy to make on busy nights.
