  • Reserve 1 Tbsp. chopped candy. Mix remaining candy with cream cheese and cookie crumbs until blended.
  • Shape into 48 (1-inch) balls. Freeze 10 min.

  • Refrigerate 1 hour or until firm.

Size Wise

How to Easily Dip the Cookie Balls

To easily coat the cookie balls with the melted chocolate, add balls, in batches, to bowl of melted chocolate. Use 2 forks to roll balls in chocolate until evenly coated. Remove balls with forks, letting excess chocolate drip back into bowl. Place balls on prepared baking sheet; let stand until chocolate coating is firm.

Store in tightly covered container in refrigerator.

I added about a teaspoon of crisco to the bakers chocolate which made it much easier to work with. I melted the clocolate in a coffee cup 4 squares at a time and used a slotted spoon to dunk each ball then used 2 forks to gently lift the ball off the spoon and onto wax paper while my daughter stood-by with a pinch of peppermint candy waiting to sprinkle onto the wet chocolate. I also froze the balls for at least 1/2 before dunking in the melted chocolate. They turned out perfect. Only problem is they are so good you will want to eat them all!!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from These came out fabulous! These came out fabulous! I had a lot of fun adding different 'toppings', such as a drizzle of white chocolate, or crushed oreos, in place of the candy canes on some. My one recommendation is to freeze the 'naked' balls for much more than 10 minutes before you dip them. At least 30 minutes. And if you keep them in the freezer and only take out a few at a time, even better. I'm bringing them to my office Holiday Party Cookie exchange, and I am counting on lot of ooohs and aaahs!

Everyone LOVES the oreo balls...we did add the peppermint on top for Christmas this year and they were so yummy with a festive flavor. In the past, I've used sprinkles on top for decoration. They're always a hit, but are super rich, and usually you can only eat one or two. If making for just a few people, would be good to half the recipe. If you make a whole batch, plan to give some away or make them for a larger gathering of people. But, they're easy and well worth the time!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Delicious! Delicious! I would HIGHLY recommend crushing oreos in blender- I've done it that way and also in a baggie. Blender is less mess and faster. Didn't try canes in blender so not sure how that works. Another tip- sprinkle crushed canes on before choc coating hardens, otherwise they just bounce off instead of sticking.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from These were easy and very "yummy" according to my husband. These were easy and very "yummy" according to my husband. I used the double boiler for the chocolate and used a toothpick to dip the cookie into the chocolate. The peppermint topping covered the little whole that the toothpick left. I had quite a bit of chocolate left over. Guess I'll dip some pretzels.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from These were a hit a our pot luck party! These were a hit a our pot luck party! They were super easy to make and tasted great! I substituted milk chocolate for the coating and used 1/2 a bag of the Andes Creme de menthe baking pieces instead of the 1/3 cup of candy canes in them (but still sprinkled candy canes on top for garnish).

I served these to 3 groups of people, and these were hands-down the favorite of all the cookies. They were relatively easy to make, although I used toothpicks instead of forks for less marks. Also was easier to have a second person put on the peppermint before the chocolate hardened.

I added 1 tsp of peppermint extract to the cream cheese and mixed before adding to the cookie & mint crumbs -- good addition. These taste great (I was worried about the cream cheese flavor, but it is very faint, and does not distract), and I will definitely make these again!
