  • Heat oven to 350ºF.
  • Prepare brownie batter as directed on package; spread into greased 13x9-inch pan.
  • Beat cream cheese with mixer until creamy. Add sugar, egg and vanilla; mix well. Drop by tablespoonfuls over brownie batter; swirl with knife.
  • Bake 35 to 40 min. or until cream cheese mixture is lightly browned. Cool completely before cutting to serve. Keep refrigerated.

Note

For best results, do not use brownie mix with a syrup pouch.

Special Extra

Sprinkle 1/2 cup BAKER'S Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chunks over brownie batter before baking.

Special Extra

For easy cleanup, line baking pan with foil using this easy method.  Turn pan upside down and fit a piece of foil over top of pan, smoothing corners as needed.  Remove foil.  When you turn the pan over, the foil fits perfectly inside the pan.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from The recipe was completely delicious. The recipe was completely delicious. The family enjoyed it greatly. The only problem that we had with it was that the recipe calls for a 35-40 min bake time, but the middle was still very gooey and oozed when we finally cut into the center. I ended up adding an extra 30 minutes to make sure it was fully cooked. Uncertain why this occurred but praying it will be better next time :)

I have also made this recipe for decades as a previous rater said - it was included in a Philadelphia Cream Cheese Cookbook- and it has always been a hit. Chocolate chips or chocolate chunks work equally well, as does any recipe for cake-like brownies. My daughter remembers it from when I made it for her grammer school parties, and she is now a mother with her own child. This is a classic.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from I think the quality of this recipie absolutely depends on what type of brownie mix you use. I think the quality of this recipie absolutely depends on what type of brownie mix you use. I used a bargain generic mix to save money and they weren't that good. The topping part was excellent but the brownie itself suffered for my frugality. Next time I will try it with a better mix and I would definitely suggest the same for others trying this one.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from First time I ever bring these to an event is never the last. First time I ever bring these to an event is never the last. I am asked time and time again to bring the marbled brownies when there is a function at church or work. My husband work for the last 3 years have asked me to make them for all their pot luck functions. These are so yummy and look so dressed up compared to other brownies.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I made these for my aunt. I made these for my aunt. Her 70th birthday was last week and I had her over for lunch. She flipped! She took some home for my uncle and he said they were the best brownies he ever tasted. I also took leftovers to my co-workers, who loved them. I will make these again and again. They are amazingly delectable!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from These were good. These were good. I used Fat Free Brownie mix and light cream cheese..and sprinkled bittersweet chocolate on top. Next time I may use a little more cream cheese just to get more of the 'cheesecake' taste. This was very good, I'm making it for a small bbq tomorrow and I expect that everyone will LOVE them.

My cream cheese layer wasn't as thick as it is in the images, so I'd use 1.5 packs of cream cheese or maybe 2. But, the brownies were chewy and chocolately with a hint of peppermint (since I used peppermint extract instead of vanilla extract). Perfect just from the oven with a tall glass of ice cold milk!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Brownies made with the cream cheese are yummy and very moist. Brownies made with the cream cheese are yummy and very moist. Be careful when covering the pan after cooling that the brownies don't become mushy. The cream cheese mixture wasn't as sweet as I thought it would be, but makes the brownies look pretty. These would be great to take to a potluck or party.
