I even made it with a butter pecan cake mix and substituted pecans in the frosting and it came out moist and delicious...everyone loved it!
I MADE 2 CAKES, ONE FOR FAMILY ,ONE FOR THE PHARMACY DEPT. AT WALMARTS, BECAUSE THEY ARE SO HELPFUL TO ME.
THE CAKES WERE EASY TO MIX, THE ICING WAS GREAT. I ADDED PECANS TO THE RECEIPTS INSTEAD OF WALNUTS, AND ALSO SPRINKLES GROUND PECANS ON TOP OF THE CAKES. THE REVIEWS WERE GREAT, ONE OF THE BEST CAKES EVER TASTED, ICING GOOD BUT NOT TO SWEET. EVEN HAD PEOPLE ASK ME TO MAKE THEM ONE WHEN THEY SAW IT AT WALKMARTS PHARMACY. TURNED OUT SO PRETTY
This frosting is absolutely delicious. I made it with the Banana Sour Cream Cake and I'm still getting compliments about it. I did make one change to this recipe -- I used only half a box of powdered sugar rather than the whole box so that the cream cheese flavor was not overpowered by the sweetness.
