Cheeseburger or pizza? No need to choose with these pizza burgers topped with mozzarella, fresh tomatoes and lettuce.
teaspoon Italian seasoning
teaspoon garlic powder
teaspoon onion powder
pound lean ground beef
ounces reduced-fat mozzarella cheese, sliced
Lettuce leaves (optional)
Ketchup and/or other condiments (optional)
whole wheat buns or kaiser rolls, split and toasted
1. In a medium mixing bowl beat egg slightly with a fork. Stir in the oats, 2 tablespoons catsup, dried Italian seasoning, garlic powder, onion powder, and salt. Add ground beef; mix well. Shape mixture into four 3/4-inch-thick patties.
2. Place patties on the unheated rack of a broiler pan. Broil 3 to 4 inches from the heat for 12 to 14 minutes or an instant-read thermometer inserted in side of patty registers 160 degrees F, turning once. Top with cheese; broil about 1 minute more or until cheese is melted.
3. Serve hot pizza burgers on toasted buns or Kaiser rolls with lettuce, tomato slices, and additional catsup and/or other condiments, if desired. Makes 4 servings.
