Praline Whipped Sweet Potatoes

I made this last year for the first time-- I'm making it again because I loved it. A terrific goes-with-Thanksgiving dish.

what you need

large sweet potatoes (about 3-1/2 lb.)

oz. (1/2 of 8-oz. pkg.) PHILADELPHIA Cream Cheese, softened

tsp. ground cinnamon, divided

cups maple-pecan whole grain cereal flakes

1/4

cup firmly packed brown sugar

Tbsp. butter, softened

Make It

PREHEAT oven to 400°F. Prick potatoes with fork, then microwave on HIGH 15 to 20 min. or until tender. Remove from oven; cool 5 min. Cut each potato lengthwise in half; carefully scoop potato flesh into medium bowl, reserving potato shells for later use. Mash potatoes until smooth. Add cream cheese and 1/2 tsp. of the cinnamon; mix until well blended. Spoon evenly into potato shells.

PLACE cereal in resealable plastic bag; gently crush with hands or a rolling pin. Mix with brown sugar, butter and remaining 1/2 tsp. cinnamon. Sprinkle evenly over potatoes.

BAKE 15 min. or until potatoes are heated through and streusel topping is golden brown.

Make Ahead

Mashed potato mixture can be prepared and spooned into potato shells ahead of time. Cover and refrigerate up to 2 days. When ready to serve, uncover and sprinkle with streusel topping. Then, bake as directed.

Use Your Oven

Preheat oven to 400°F. Prick potatoes with fork, then bake 45 min. or until tender. Remove from oven; cool 5 min. Continue as directed.

Recipe says preheat oven to 400 degrees, then says microwave. I believe a correction is in order. I really like the recipe and will use it this Thanksgiving, replacing "my famous" sweet potato casserole.

Make it every Thanksgiving. So easy & so yummy. I add nutmeg & use more cinnamon & brown sugar in the mixture.

This was the first sweet potatoe recipe I had ever made, it wasn't as easy as canned sweet potatoes (of course) but well worth the effort. It was so good my mother-in-law called and asked for the recipe! Now I cook sweet potatoes more often and know there's lots of things you can do with them other than marshmallows!

A little too much cream cheese, but overall ok. My husband loved it.

Wonderful, and I lightened it up. I used light butter, and fat free cream cheese, so I added a little extra brown sugar to the mashed potato to make it sweet, along with a dash of nutmeg, and ginger. I'll defintely do this again!

This is a great recipe for families like mine where not everyone likes sweet potatoes - It is a wonderful treat to those that do without having to make more than will get eaten. Great heated up with left over turkey as well.
