Make It

Tap or click steps to mark as complete

  • Heat oven to 350°F.
  • Beat first 4 ingredients in large bowl with mixer until well blended. Pour into 13x9-inch pan sprayed with cooking spray.
  • Bake 32 to 35 min. or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool completely in pan.
  • Beat cream cheese, butter, milk and vanilla in large bowl with mixer until well blended. Gradually add sugar, beating after each addition until well blended. Spread over cooled cake.

Variation

Prepare using 15x10x1-inch pan and decreasing the baking time to 20 to 22 min. or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean.

Special Extra

For easy cleanup, line baking pan with foil using this easy method.  Turn pan upside down and fit a piece of foil over top of pan, smoothing corners as needed.  Remove foil.  When you turn the pan over, the foil fits perfectly inside the pan.

Storing Cream Cheese Frosted Cakes

Cakes frosted with a cream cheese icing must be stored in the refrigerator.

My Daughter's(ages:9&10) and I made this together for something fun to do...We loved it so much. I sent it by E-mailed it to my oldest daughter(Anne) in California- Who loved it and passed it on to her boyfriend's Mom... So it just keeps pleasing all who make it, and then pass it on to see if it will come back to you-forward your name and address with every pass on, so it becomes a long list and hopefully comes back to you...Mary, Anne,Oivia and MaryCatherine.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This was great! This was great!! At first I thought a cream cheese icing might go better with this recipe but the powdered sugar icing works really well with this. Although cream cheese icing might too. I loved this it tasted really good and pumpkiny. Although it was more like a cake rather than a snack bar. You needed a fork to eat it with rather than your hands like you would eat a bar/brownie with. I would make this again in a heartbeat. Pretty easy to make too!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from These bars are so easy and sooo moist! These bars are so easy and sooo moist! The ONLY reason I am rating it 4 stars instead of 5, is that I couldn't get past the tang of the Miracle Whip! It mellowed after a couple of days in the refrigerator though. I will definitely be making this again, but i will use mayonaise instead. I'm sure it will be a 5 star for me with that change! My son wants this to be his birthday cake. My husband, who NEVER eats pumpkin spice anything, even loved this!

I wish the recipe would state to use the cake mix dry, & not to make as directed on the box...I read another review where someone else messed it up as well! I read the follow up from KRAFT kitchens wrong. I thought "HUM" I would have just followed the ingredients listed on the recipe. SO much for speed reading! You could say it's my fault, I agree somewhat however, if we are questioning it, I think it should be corrected. thus, 3 stars

We love cakes in our household and this recipe is a welcome taste anytime of the year as well as a great seasonal dessert when halloween and Thanksgiving roll-around. absolutely WONDERFUL. I also plan to take these bars with me as I go up to stay with relatives during a hard time for them. They will love the surprize of a homemade dessert, which they do not get very often. Love from the kitchen for dear relations. Thank you.

I was a little confused as to if I should make the spice cake recipe as stated on the box or if I should just add the pumpkin to the spice cake mix without the additional water, eggs and oil. I ended up making it with the water, eggs and oil and it tasted raw (I even let it stay in the oven longer than recommended). <<< Response from Kraft Kitchens Expert, Wendy ~ The cake mix is to be used dry from the box. >>>

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Finally! Finally! The perfect pumpkin bars! I've searched all over for the perfect pumpkin bars and I found them! These are jam-packed with flavor and extremely moist! They're not too crumbly, and smell sooo good while baking. I made mine with pre-made cream cheese frosting because I'm lazy, but I'm sure the homemade is good too. These will be great anytime of the year!
