Ratings & Reviews

Rated 4 out of 5 by from My husband and I absolutely loved this dish. My husband and I absolutely loved this dish. My kids did not eat this and I didn't even attempt to give it to them because the little kick it did have would have been too spicy for them. Their little palates are extremely sensitive to spice. I used sweet Italian turkey sausage instead of hot sausage links. I followed the other recommendations and added a little hot sauce as it was needed and I liked the sweet tang the barbecue sauce gave it. I had some celery on hand so I chopped that up and put it in as well. I also seasoned to taste because we are flavor fanatics and it was missing a little something on its own. Use whatever seasonings you like at your discretion…I don’t think you can go wrong with this dish. All in all this was really a great dish for the amount of time it took to make. I will definitely make this again.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This is the yummyest recipe! This is the yummyest recipe! I made this for my husband because he loves jambalaya. I was nervous to make it because I had never made anything like this before. But this recipe was so easy and so delicious! We both just love it! I made it for my extended family also & it was a huge hit there. My dad is actually going to make it for his next company party! I highly recommend that everyone try this awesome recipe!!!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This recipe is soooo good. This recipe is soooo good. I agree it can end up tasting too sweet and cheap, like it came off of the school lunch menu. The trick is to add hot sauce! It seriously improves the dish by a thousand percent. I like to add Emeril's Kick it up a Notch hot sauce, but any kind of hot sauce would probably work. And if you think it's too watery, let it boil just a little longer before you remove it from the heat.

I use andouille sausage instead of the italian, I use diced tomatoes with green chilies or zesty jalepenos, I use yellow or orange peppers and I use a different kind og BBQ sauce. Jumbo shrimp are excellant as well and a couple of dashes of hot sauce!! Yummy!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I will definately make this again. I will definately make this again. I did substitute a small can of tomato paste for the barbque sauce and sweet italian sausage instead of hot because of my daughter. It had a great flavor and all the leftovers were finished by the next day. My 6 year old ate two full plates and my husband made me promise that I'd make it again.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from This was a very good and easy recipe. This was a very good and easy recipe. My husband loved it. I hadn't made jambalaya in many years because of the time it took. With just two of us, I divided it in half and used smoked sausage since that was what I had on hand. I added some Chilula hot sauce. My husband said I can make this anytime.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Agree with the other comments that this is a sweetier jambalaya depending on the BBQ sauce. Agree with the other comments that this is a sweetier jambalaya depending on the BBQ sauce. My husband LOVED it and asked for the leftovers for his lunch (rare!). I was pretty libral with my shrimp and sausage amounts, so only change I would make is to add a little more rice and sauce next time.
