Quick 'n Easy Sausage on a Bun Recipe

What You Need

4

Italian sausage links (1 lb.)

1

each red and green pepper, cut into wedges

1

onion, sliced, separated into rings

1/4

cup KRAFT Balsamic Vinaigrette Dressing

1

can (15 oz.) diced tomatoes, undrained

Italian bread rolls, partially split, toasted

3/4

cup KRAFT Shredded Mozzarella Cheese

Make It

HEAT large nonstick skillet on medium-high heat. Add sausages; cook 12 min. or until done (160ºF), turning after 6 min. Remove sausages from skillet; cover. Discard drippings from skillet.

ADD peppers, onions and dressing to skillet; cook and stir 5 min. or until vegetables are crisp-tender. Stir in tomatoes. Bring to boil; cook 5 min., stirring occasionally.

CUT sausages lengthwise in half, being careful to not cut all the way through to bottom of each. Open sausages; place, cut-sides down, on bottom halves of rolls. Cover with pepper mixture, cheese and tops of rolls.

Sprinkle 1 Tbsp. chopped fresh basil over filling in each sandwich.

The recipe is a little messy, sort of a sloppy joe. The sausage was confusing how to cook it and I burned it because it takes awhile for the pork to cook on the inside. Besides that, this was very delcious!

everyone in my family loved this dinner!!! I even brought the leftovers to my mom the day after, she said it was the best sausage and pepper ever!

This was excellent and easy too. I used chicken sausage with spinach and feta cheese in it. I didn't have the correct dressing to saute he peppers,onions and tomatoes, so I used a substitute. My family loved it. I served a large Italian salad and the dinner was complete. I will make it again often.

Loved it!!! I always try to cook healthy so I used turkey bratwurst (couldn't find a light version of italian sausage) and 2% cheese. This recipe is completely different than what I normally make and maybe that was the appeal to it. It was so tasty and flavorful and I was able to make it with less fat.

This recipe was super easy to make and oh SO full of delicious flavor! I toasted the buns in the oven before adding the yummy sausage and peppers. Definately one I will make again and again and again!
