Special Extra

Cover edge of pie crust with strip of foil for the last 15 min. of the baking time to prevent it from browning too much.

Substitute

Substitute 3/4 cup dark corn syrup for the 1 cup maple-flavored syrup.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I never of using maple syrup in a pie recipe so I didn't know what to expect. I never of using maple syrup in a pie recipe so I didn't know what to expect. It was FANTASTIC. My whole family loved it. I will diffently make it again. One thing though, and this may have been common sense to most. I was going to put the pie in the oven without a baking sheet underneath (the instructions doesn't mention to use a baking sheet). A friend told me that I should put the pie on a baking sheet anyway. I am glad I did. A little bit of the pie was spilling out as it was baking. Other then that it was great!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I searched around this year for a different pecan pie recipe than my "standby" I always use. I searched around this year for a different pecan pie recipe than my "standby" I always use. I must say I was very pleased with the results of this recipe! I prepared the pie as instructed but used 2 eggs instead of 3 (as recommended by another reviewer), and my pie set great! Everyone liked it this year; much better than my other recipe. It is indeed very rich, so keep the title in mind when preparing. Other than that, I would highly recommend!

My sister-in-law was unable to make her famous pecan pie this year and the pies in the store only have pecans on the top. My husband loves pecan pie, but I don't so this was my first time and I had no idea what I was doing. This recipe is awesome. Both pies were gone in an hour and I got lots of compliments. My husband want me to be the official pecan pie maker now.

This was my first attempt at duplicating my 91 year old grandmother's family favorite pie. I succeeded! It was super simple, and fast and tasted exactly like hers tasted when I was a child! Will definitely make again & again! Everyone loved it and asked for the recipe. I have friends that have lost close to 100 pounds & still couldn't resist this deliciousness!!!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from This recipe is also great for tartlets and mini pies. This recipe is also great for tartlets and mini pies. I recycle pot pie tins and make this recipe up in batches. I wrap them in foil or saran wrap and put in the fridge for a special treat in my lunch or a quick dessert served warm with a scoop of ice cream. They were a great hit at a party as mini treats. I just used a muffin tin for those.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This recipe was awesome. This recipe was awesome. I made two pies for thanksgiving with this recipe. Instead of maple flavored syrup, i used the substitution of dark corn syrup. It was really good and not too sweet like alot of pecan pie recipes. I got alot of compliments. I'm definently making this one again!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from You can replace the sugar with karo plain (clear) syrup. You can replace the sugar with karo plain (clear) syrup. That's basically what you're making by melting the sugar - then you can save the stove top / saucepan step and just add the ingredients to your other ingredients. Save some time and cooking.
