I used sliced almonds, a great substitute, and to get the marshmallows to stick...try dunking them in water right before you add them. I got that tip from a review posted to a similar recipe, (the 4-layer bars) and it really works great. They melt up evenly and stick much better to the brownie.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from I make something like this. I make something like this. I use a Low Fat BRownie Mix & crushed walnuts in the mix. Then after its done I cover it with Marshmellow and put it under the broiler until it browns and then I put crushed cinnamon graham crackers on top. Its really good. You can omit the nuts if you want to.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent tasting and easy to make. Excellent tasting and easy to make. After cooking the brownie I found if you add the layer of marshmellos and then put tin foil over the pan for several seconds the mellos melt and stick easily to the brownie. Much easier than wetting each mello like another reader had suggested.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Soooooo easy and they look beautiful! Soooooo easy and they look beautiful! Don't cut them, just bring the dish to a potluck and it'll be a hit. I didn't put chocolate on top of the marshmallows and people still said that they were the best they've ever tasted. Fool-proof, quick and delicious!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from OMG is all I can say. OMG is all I can say. I used previous suggestion to cover marshmallows with foil for a few minutes before pouring the chocolate topping. Sent a batch of these to our son who is in the service to share with his comrades.
