  • Heat oven to 450ºF.
  • Combine potatoes, onions, garlic powder and 1 cup cheese.
  • Place pie crust on baking sheet; spread with potato mixture to within 1/2 inch of edge. Sprinkle with remaining cheese. Fold over edge of pastry to partially cover potato mixture.
  • Bake 20 to 25 min. or until crust is golden brown. Sprinkle with chives.

    I thought the recipe looked better than it tasted. It seemed to lack flavor.I thought it needed a bit of salt and pepper. Also. I didn't know where to put the remaining 1 c cheese so put it on top before baking. I had problems with getting the cheese out of the pkg - it stuck to the bottom of the package. I also wonder if green onion would be better than regular onion.

    There's something off with this recipe. 4 cups of uncooked hash browns is way too much. And bag of cheese is 2 cups -- so do you use half the bag or all of it? very confusing.
