  • Mix meat, stuffing mix, water and 1/3 cup onions just until blended. Shape into 6 (1/2-inch-thick) patties.
  • Heat 1 tsp. oil in large nonstick skillet on medium heat. Add patties; cook 2 to 3 min. on each side or until browned on both sides. Remove from skillet; cover to keep warm. Add remaining oil, remaining onions and mushrooms to skillet; cook 3 to 5 min. or until vegetables are tender, stirring frequently.
  • Add broth to skillet. Bring to simmer. Add meat patties; cover. Simmer on medium-low heat 13 to 15 min. or until burgers are done (160ºF), turning occasionally. Transfer burgers to serving plate, reserving drippings in pan; cover burgers to keep warm.
  • Add cream cheese spread and milk to drippings in skillet; cook and stir on low heat 2 min. or until sauce is well blended. Spoon over burgers.

Serving Suggestion

Serve with hot cooked egg noodles and a mixed green salad tossed with your favorite KRAFT Dressing.


If your skillet is not large enough to brown all 6 patties at once, brown them in 2 batches. Then return all 6 patties to skillet with vegetables and broth to complete cooking, overlapping slightly if needed.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This is delicious! This is delicious! I was hesitant about using chicken flavored Stove Top dressing mix to make the meat patties but they were really great. I made the meat patties ahead of time and my 15 yr. old son walked in as I was cooking them and he put a pattie between 2 pieces of bread and said it was really good. I only used about 1/3 of the amt. of mushrooms and chopped them small because my daughter won't eat mushrooms. I also added about 1 T. Worcestershire to the sauce. Other than that, I followed the directions and will definitely make it again!

I rated it 4 stars vs 5 stars just because it was a fair amount of work for a basic meal for the family. Both my husband and myself thought it was very good. I took some of the other suggestions in the reviews. I added 1 egg white, cut back the water to 3/4 cup, added 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce, and made 10 smaller patties. They held together well. Also used the entire carton of cooking creme in the sauce and added 1 Tablespoon of cornstarch to thicken it. With these changes it was very good.

This recipe was very yummy... except I used 1 lb ground beef and 1 lb ground bear (yes, I'm from Alaska), and just used sour cream in place of the Philly cooking cream. I also used about a Tbsp. of flour to thicken the sauce. My family loved it! I think next time I may try the beef flavor Stovetop stuffing mix. The chicken was quite tasty but I think beef might be even better...we will see! :)

Rated 3 out of 5 by from The salisbury steak was very good. The salisbury steak was very good. The sauce, not so much. It was runny & had very little taste. I followed the recipe exactly. I even left it sauce simmer longer than required to try to reduce it, but it was still very runny. I will make the steaks again, but find another sauce to put on them.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from My small adult family liked it. My small adult family liked it. When I make it again, I will only add half cup water to the meat mixture, and probably use beef stove top. I think that I added a tablespoon of cornstarch to the cooking creme mixture. I think can mushrooms would also work just as well.

This recipe was good, but I would put an egg in the meat mixture to stiffen it up a bit..the patties were almost falling apart. Also, the sauce was too runny. I let it simmer longer thinking that would help. Overall, though, with some tweeks, I'd make it again.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent. Excellent. A great way to stretch a package of ground beef. The patties were very flavorful. My only modifications were to add 1 T. of worcestershire sauce and to add a few sprigs of fresh Italian parsley to the finished meal. I will make this again.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Decent, but lacked flavor. Decent, but lacked flavor. I even used the savory garlic cooking cream, and we still had to add lots of salt to even taste it. Adding an egg to the meet mixture to keep the patties together helps.
