  1. Bread can make or break a sandwich, so it's important to pair the right bread with your ingredients. For example, saucy and juicy burgers pair nicely with buns that have a warmed and crunchy crust. Sloppy Joe mixtures work great on soft hamburger buns. Use firm breads like ciabattas to soak up the flavors of moist ingredients such as tuna salad.
  2. The fresher the bread, the better the sandwich. To keep bread fresh-tasting, you can toast it or broil it with a little melted cheese to enhance flavor.
  3. Mini sandwiches are more popular than ever. For a change of pace, make your sandwiches minis by serving little burgers on small dinner rolls instead of traditional hamburger buns.
  4. Hot dogs buns are perfect for kids' little fingers and can be filled with many different sandwich ingredients. Besides hot dogs, try heated fish sticks, chicken nuggets, cheese sticks or apple slices and cheese.
  5. Mix up your sandwich options by trying fun bread alternatives like crackers, English muffins, croissants, tortillas and pitas.
