  • Mix meat and pepper; shape into 4 (1/2-inch-thick) oval patties. Melt 1 tsp. butter in large skillet on medium heat. Add patties; cook 5 min. on each side or until done (160ºF). Transfer to platter; cover to keep warm.
  • Melt remaining butter in same skillet. Add mushrooms and onions; cook and stir 3 min. Stir in Worcestershire sauce; cook and stir 2 min or until onions are crisp-tender.
  • Add cooking creme; cook 2 to 3 min. or until heated through, stirring frequently. Spoon over patties; top with parsley.

Serving Suggestion

The creamy sauce adds the finishing touch to this steak. Serve with smart sides such as steamed vegetables to balance out the meal.

Substitute sliced shallots for the chopped onions.

This would be just as good without the cooking cream sauce. I used the lemon herb sauce, it was what I had on hand. I served it with waffle fries.

Made using cube steak sprinkled with seasoning salt instead of beef patties. I also added 2 cloves of garlic and a little salt to the mushrooms and onions while they cooked. This was really creamy and flavorful; the sauce was maybe a little thick so next time I might add 1 or 2 Tbls milk with the worcestershire. Otherwise this mushroom sauce could be made with almost any pan fried meat or even fish.

I have made something similar to this except no cream cheese or cooking creme. I do not like the cooking creme at all. Too weird. I make this with brown gravy, fresh mushrooms and onions. Very yummy with potatoes and a fresh salad.
