People who complain about the amount of salt could use half the cheese package and use regular cheddar cheese. That cuts down on the salt. I tried it and it works. I also used red kidney beans once when I didn't have peas.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I've made this for years. I've made this for years. It's been a family staple since I was a kid. However, we frequently use tuna instead of ham. Also, for a variation, sprinkle with bread crumbs or crushed potato chips and finish in the oven.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from This is the second time I've made this recipe. This is the second time I've made this recipe. I love that it is so quick and easy and tastes great. The first time I made it exactly as the recipe calls for. This time I just used a can of peas instead of frozen and also added 1 finely chopped chipotle pepper to spice it up a bit and give it a little smokey flavor. It even tasted good the next day. I suppose you could actually throw any veges you want into this recipe and it would be great. Will definitely make this again.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Never mind the comment in my last review about the dish drying out a bit. Never mind the comment in my last review about the dish drying out a bit. It seems I forgot the sour cream; I didn't remember it until hours later when I saw the container in my fridge! Even so, the dish tasted quite good. Now that's my kind of recipe - even when in a hurry and stressed out, I can't ruin it!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from This was definately one of the fastest meals to put together. This was definately one of the fastest meals to put together. I'm not sure about the amount of sour cream.....I did double the recipe to have leftovers and subsituted corn for the peas like others had suggested and not quite sure about that. I would make it again, but not for a while.
