Make It

Tap or click steps to mark as complete

  • Mix water, barbecue sauce, peanut butter, soy sauce, cilantro and mustard in medium bowl with wire whisk. Refrigerate half of the mixture to use as a dipping sauce. Pour remaining mixture into large resealable plastic bag. Add chicken; seal bag. Shake gently to coat chicken. Refrigerate 1 to 2 hours to marinate.
  • Preheat grill to medium-high heat. Thread chicken onto 12 skewers in ribbon fashion; discard any remaining marinade in bag.
  • Grill 5 to 7 min. or until chicken is cooked through. Serve with the reserved dipping sauce.

Make it Easy

To easily cut chicken into strips, use a sharp knife, and cut while the chicken is partially frozen.

Cooking Know-How

If using wooden skewers, soak in water 30 min. before using to prevent them from burning.

Special Extra

These chicken skewers also make great appetizers. Makes 12 servings, 1 skewer each.

Ratings & Reviews

Rated 3 out of 5 by from My sister prepared these. My sister prepared these. It was pretty good, but not "the best". I was unable to find Teriyaki BBQ; so I bought honey-teriyaki marinade/sauce. The chicken itself tasted yummy; the sauce has a distinct Oreintal flavor. We served it at a party, everyone ate 2nds...but we had way too much sauce leftover! If you like Asian-influenced dishes, this recipe is definitly for you. It would be good if it had a few tbls. of honey added to the sauce. The prep/cooking is easy... make extra skewers for lunch the next day.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Have made this SOOOO many times! Have made this SOOOO many times!! Shared it over and over (Note that the magazine edition of the recipe calls for HONEY TERIYAKI BBQ sauce which gives it a milder flavor). I left out the cilantro (not a favorite in this house).. can be served with or w/o skewers.. I loved drizzling the dipping sauce over white rice and stir fried pea pods. Tonight I'm adding chopped pnuts to dipping sauce... mmmmm THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Absolutely awesome! Absolutely awesome! Never in my wildest dreams did I think that all of those ingredients mixed together would be good. IT WAS! Everyone loved it! I used the entire mixture to marinate the chicken in for about 5 hours and then I made another batch of the mix - this time a little thicker - and then served it in a little dipping bowl next to everyone's plate -- the secret is to warming the dipping sauce! YUM!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Absolutely perfect! Absolutely perfect! I made this dish last night in my broiler (it was 19 degrees outside -- not grilling weather). My son's family was eating with us and I wanted to make sure we had enough for my husband to take for lunch the next day, so I made a triple batch. Not only did this dish receive rave reviews, but it also "disappeared" down to the last morsel. Bravo, Kraft!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from This was very different, but good. This was very different, but good. Next time I will add some more water. The recipe was very creamy, which was strange. My husband and I liked the areas that were cooked, not creamy. So I would not use as a dipping sauce nor would I add more sauce after bbq'ing. My 2 1/2 year old daughter enjoyed helping to mix all the ingredients.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Strange combination of ingredients but quite tasty, and very moist! Strange combination of ingredients but quite tasty, and very moist!! I put the chicken strips on the skewers first then marinaded them most of the day. Then when dinner time came I just used a pair of tongs to put them on the grill. It was less messy then trying to skewer chicken with marinade on it, and dinner was done in no time.

The combination of BBQ sauce and peanut butter sounded a bit strange to me but I was intrigued nonetheless and tried it. This is great!!! The flavor is wonderfully unique and made a great change to our usual marinades. We made this for some guests and they loved it, too. My husband isn't a big BBQ fan but he loved this.
