Slow-Cooked Beef and Wine Ragu

What You Need

Tbsp. oil, divided

lb. pearl onions, peeled, halved

lb. boneless beef chuck eye roast, cut into 1-1/2 inch cubes

can (6 oz.) tomato paste

cloves garlic, minced

cups beef stock

1/2

cup dry red wine

oz. (1/2 of 8-oz. pkg.) PHILADELPHIA Cream Cheese, cubed

1/4

tsp. each Salt and pepper

cups hot cooked rotini pasta

Make It

HEAT 1 Tbsp. oil in Dutch oven or large deep skillet on medium-high heat. Add onions; cook and stir 5 to 6 min. or until golden brown. Remove from pan.

HEAT remaining oil in pan. Add meat, in batches; cook 8 to 10 min. or until evenly browned, stirring frequently. Remove from pan. Add tomato paste and garlic; cook 1 min. Return meat to pan. Add stock and wine; stir. Bring to boil; cover. Simmer on medium-low heat 1-1/2 hours, stirring occasionally. Add onions; cook 20 min., stirring occasionally.

REMOVE small amount of liquid from pan. Add to cream cheese in small bowl; mix well. Return to pan; cook 10 min., stirring occasionally. Serve with pasta.

The meat was very tender - we used the crock pot. it was definitely missing something. Very Bland. Added more salt and pepper but it didn't help. Not sure what's missing.

Very delicious! I made it in the crock pot instead of on the stove, and I used chopped onion instead of the pearl onions. My entire family loved this recipe and asked if I could make it again and again!

This is really delicious. I made it in the crock-pot. After simmering all day, the meat was tender, and the sauce was delicious. I used regular onions sliced instead of pearl onions.

My family and I loved this recipe! Sauce was delicious and the meat was very tender. My husband asked me to make it every week! If u prepare it as the directions state it should turn out perfectly.

Blech! This was not very good. I was looking forward to it, the picture makes it look so creamy and delicious. But it turned out kind of strange and bitter. It took a lot of "doctoring up" (incl. sour cream, sugar and spices) to make this edible.

This was way too time consuming, even longer than it stated. It didn't mention when to add the salt & pepper. The recipe looks much better in the picture than it tasted. Our sauce was orange, not brown like in the picture. Dissapointed in this one. Usually we love Kraft recipes.

I didn't serve with pasta. I served with roasted potatoes & a salad. It was very good. The meat was extremely tender. It was an easy recipe to follow.
