  • Cook and stir bacon in large skillet on medium heat until crisp. Remove bacon, reserving drippings in skillet. Drain bacon. Add onions to drippings; cook and stir until crisp-tender.
  • Add beans, broth and pepper; stir. Bring to boil; cover. Simmer on medium-low heat 40 min.
  • Stir in tomatoes; cook on medium-high heat 3 min. or until heated through. Top with bacon.


Prepare using regular OSCAR MAYER Bacon and chicken broth.

    Used regular tomatoes rather than plum tomatoes because looking to use up tomatoes from the garden. Otherwise did not change up recipe any, and family loved it.

    Tastes like grandma's cooking when I was a little kid. I use a can of tomatoes. I tried pre-cooked bacon crumbles, but it was not good - it's worth the mess to cook the bacon. This is one of my favorite recipes.

    Made this the other night and it was good. It was even better the next day but unfortunately there wasn't much left. I omitted the chicken broth and plum tomatoes and substituted 3/4 of a can of diced tomatoes with green chilies. YUM! Will definitely make again.
