  • Combine first 6 ingredients in slow cooker; cover with lid. Cook on LOW 8 to 10 hours (or on HIGH 4 hours). Discard bay leaves.
  • Mix eggs, stuffing mix and water; shape into 8 balls. Add cream cheese spread to slow cooker; stir until melted. Gently stir in stuffing balls; cook, covered, on HIGH 30 min.
  • Turn off slow cooker. Let stand 15 min. Serve stew and dumplings topped with chives.

    Pork? I had to try it. This one is a keeper. Its a great comfort dish on a cold day. It was so good my next weekly trip to the grocery store I bought the ingredients again.

    I cooked this in this crockpot per the recipe directions, not on the stove. I put in the dumplings and they did not fall apart nor was their flavor overwhelming. I'm not sure what happened with the other reviewers. The only thing I did different was add a couple cloves of fresh garlic. This will definitely be made again. We may try it with the pork flavored stuffing next time.

    Great slow cooker meal. After reading the other reviews I did not add the stuffing balls and I'm glad because the stew did not need it. Had great flavor without. The cream cheese gave it a hint of tanginess.
