While any variety of non-alcoholic beer can be used to prepare this soup, an amber or dark non-alcoholic beer produces a richer flavor.
Serve with a crisp green salad tossed with your favorite KRAFT Dressing.
For more flavor, add 1 bay leaf to cooked onions in slow cooker along with the broth, water, beer and thyme. Discard bay leaf before ladling soup into bowls.
When serving adults, prepare using regular beer if desired. Please use alcohol responsibly.

Absolutely awful! Cooked all day and tasted like onion water. The next day, put it in a pot on the stove to try and "save" it, as to not waste. Added about a cup of dry sherry, black pepper, a couple of bay leaves, a little garlic powder and a jar of beef gravy. It was better, but not as good as starting on the stove from scratch. Will never make again.
