Slow-Cooker Saucy Swiss Steak

Throw together the fixin's in the morning and enjoy a steak-and-peppers main simmering in a tomato-based sauce for dinner. Melty Swiss cheese is the clincher.

What You Need

1/4

cup KRAFT Zesty Italian Dressing

boneless beef chuck steak (1 lb.), cut into 4 pieces

1/4

cup flour

1/4

cup tomato paste

can (14-1/2 oz.) diced tomatoes, undrained

1/2

cup beef broth

green pepper, chopped

cups hot mashed potatoes

1/2

cup shredded KRAFT Swiss Cheese

Make It

HEAT dressing in large nonstick skillet on medium-high heat. Meanwhile, coat meat with flour; gently shake off excess flour. Add meat to skillet; cook 2 to 3 min. on each side or until evenly browned on both sides. Remove from heat.

COMBINE tomato paste, tomatoes and broth in slow cooker. Add meat and peppers; cover with lid. Cook on LOW 8 to 10 hours (or on HIGH 3 to 4 hours).

SERVE over potatoes; top with cheese.

This was OK. The meat came out great, but I found the sauce to have an odd flavor. Both my husband and I said "meh" to this one. Didn't love it, didn't hate it. I might make it again, but I would have to tweak it first.

OUTSTANDING! I omitted the green bell pepper, forgot the cheese and added several shakes of Whorshestershire Sauce, and a few more grinds of salt and pepper per the previous suggestions. I served it over mashed potatoes and green beans on the side. This will be a weekly dinner at our house!!

Very good. I'm not a fan of canned Tomatoes but was very surprised. I have a large Family so doubled up on everything. I used lg can, 28 oz petite diced tomatoes and one whole small can tomato paste. If you want for more saucier sauce, add more beef broth or water. And don't forget to add some Salt for taste. Next time I might cut up some cabbage and add that to it.

Very easy and good! I used A-1 sauce instead of the tomato paste to give it some zing. I also added onions. I would have liked the sauce to be thicker.

So yummy! I added a bit more beef broth to make sure I had enough liquid in the crock pot,threw in a tsp of italian seasoning, and put in 1/4 cup of the dressing into the pot as well. I served over mashed potatoes. The meat was so tender it just fell apart and the flavor was delicious. I am putting this on my favorite dinners list!
