  • Bring first 3 ingredients to boil in saucepan. Place remaining ingredients in slow cooker. Add broth mixture; cover with lid.
  • Cook on LOW 8 to 10 hours (or on HIGH 4 to 5 hours); stir.
  • Discard bay leaves. Remove 1 cup soup; place in shallow bowl. Mash peas and vegetable pieces in soup in bowl with fork. Return to slow cooker; stir.

Substitute

Prepare using KRAFT Lite Zesty Italian Dressing.

Special Extra

For easy cleanup, line slow cooker with plastic liner bag before filling with ingredients and cooking as directed.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from I never use water, only chicken broth. I never use water, only chicken broth. I also use my ham bone and cook in large pot because I like my peas all cooked down. Will try the dressing next time. some people don't care for the 'tang' so I usually add a little vinegar to my own bowl of pea soup. Will see how they like it with the dressing. I made some of my own soup this week & took some to my daughter and when she asked her 4 3/4 yr. old grandson if he wanted some PEA soup, he got a funny look on his face and said "NO!"

Rated 4 out of 5 by from This was very good and an easy recipe for pea soup. This was very good and an easy recipe for pea soup. I used leftover ham and probably added more than the recipe called for. The first step, boiling the broth, seemed unnecessary so I skipped it. I just dumped everything in the slow cooker and turned it on. I had about 6 hours to let it cook, so I put it on high for an hour or so and then switched to low for the remaining time. The peas cooked enough that they began to break down on their own, so I didn't need to mash anything.

Easy and a great taste. My son's girl friend tried it and loved it. Made my son try it, who hates pea soup, but now loves it as well. Excellent!

I followed the recipe using chicken stock instead of broth, added some dice potatoes, and turkey ham. It turned out terrible. In fact, after tasting it, I threw the entire batch out. I must have done something wrong!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This is a wonderful split pea soup recipe. This is a wonderful split pea soup recipe. We all loved it. I used fat free zesty Italian dressing. It was pretty thick at the end of cooking time, so I added another can of low sodium chicken broth. Excellent recipe.
