  • Line 13x9-inch baking pan with foil, with ends of foil extending over sides of pan. Grease foil; set aside. Prepare cake batter and bake in prepared baking pan as directed on package. Cool in pan 15 min. (Do not remove cake from pan.) Pierce cake with large fork or skewer at 1/2-inch intervals; set aside.
  • Add milk to dry pudding mixes in medium bowl. Beat with wire whisk 2 min. or until well blended. Pour evenly over cake. Refrigerate 4 hours or overnight.
  • Remove cake from pan using foil handles; place on cutting board. Cut cake into pieces with serrated knife as shown in diagram and photo. Arrange on large serving platter to resemble a jersey, removing cake from foil before placing on platter. Stir food coloring into whipped topping; spread on top and sides of cake. Decorate with gel and candies to represent your favorite sports team. Store in refrigerator.

Easy Cleanup

Lining the baking pan with foil makes for easy cleanup and easy removal of the cake from the baking pan. When lining the pan, allow 3 inches of the foil to extend over each side of pan to use as handles when removing the cake from the pan.

Cooking Know-How

Make sure cake is completely cooled before frosting. A warm cake can cause the frosting to soften or melt.

How to Frost A Cake

If the cake is very soft and crumbly, apply a “crumb coating” to prevent cake crumbs from mixing with the frosting. Spread a thin layer of frosting over the entire cake, then let stand 5 to 10 min. or until frosting is set. Spread remaining frosting over cake.

2 packages of 4-serve size pudding mix and only 2 cups of milk? Made for a very stiff pudding mix that then can't seep into the holes in the cake. Although it was very good - but you can't cut it up like a jersey because the pudding mix makes it too unstable. Would try again with 1 pudding mix and 2 cups milk.
