  • Toss coconut with food coloring until evenly tinted.
  • Place cake on large serving plate. Frost top and side with COOL WHIP; sprinkle with coconut. Cut cake into 8 slices, leaving all slices in place. Carefully pull out cake slices and separate slightly to resemble the petals of a flower.
  • Fill center with berries just before serving. Refrigerate leftovers.

Size Wise

Indulge in a treat occasionally and give yourself permission to enjoy it in moderation. Healthy eating is about making good choices most of the time.

Substitute

A homemade angel food cake can be used instead of the store-bought cake. Prepare dessert as directed, doubling the amount of coconut and whipped topping, if necessary.

We didn't have any trouble having the cake hold the "flower" shape. If a "petal" or slice tried to fall back in to place we just stuffed a strawberry under it to tip it back. We also sliced the strawberries a bit smaller and stirred in enough sugar to cover the berries well and let them sit until they formed a syrup. Then we filled the cake with the syrup mixture, topped with more coolwhip and a couple whole strawberries and mint leaves for looks. Chilled it for a few more minutes before serving. It turned out great and everyone loved it. There wasn't any left to worry about putting back in the fridge for storage.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from My Sister-in-law brought this cake for Easter and it was a huge hit! My Sister-in-law brought this cake for Easter and it was a huge hit! The kids thought it was cool because it looked like a flower and the adults are all on Weight Watchers and loved it because it was only like 3 points per serving. Tip: If you have to take it somewhere, put it in a cake carrier separately from the strawberries and cut it after you get there.

I happened to have a angel food cake and some strawberries, the rest were items that were usually on hand. It took all of 10 minutes and received raves. Family thought I had bought it at the bakery it was so pretty. Thank you Kraft.

It was kinda hard pulling the cake apart and then putting the stawberries in there b/c the cake wanted keep splitting apart. Had to make it at my in-laws house b/c i was afraid if i moved it then it might fall apart.

This cake is very tasty, however it is difficult to acheive the desired "flower" look as shown in the pictured example. The "petals" were difficult to keep upright and because of this it was hard to get the strawberries in the middle.
