  • Prepare cake batter and bake as directed on package for cupcakes. Cool in pans 10 min. Pierce tops with fork.
  • Add boiling water to gelatin mix in small bowl; stir 2 min. until completely dissolved. Spoon over cupcakes. Refrigerate 30 min. Remove from pans.
  • Tint COOL WHIP with food coloring; spread over cupcakes. Decorate as desired.

How to Easily Poke Holes in Cupcakes

Use a meat fork to make the holes in the cupcakes to fill with the dissolved gelatin.


Omit food coloring.

    Love them. I used a medicine syringe that comes with liquid children's tylenol/advil/antibiotics to poke holes and squeeze jello liquid inside. Works so well, quick, less messy, and you get more liquid down into the cupcakes.

    I make these all of the time for many occasions and everyone always loves them! I enjoy making different variations of them - try making them with dark chocolate cake mix and raspberry Jell-O, they are very delicious!
