I made this the other night and got several compliments, though, true to my nature, I changed a few things. First, I make my own tomato/spaghetti sauce (so much better than already made): Can of diced tomatoes, can of crushed tomatoes, one onion, and basil, oregano, thyme, fennel, garlic, and of course salt and pepper to taste. You'll be amazed at the difference! I use half of my sauce for this recipe, and freeze the other half. Second, I used herb stuffing, which had some really great flavors. Finally, I mixed all the ingredients together (including the stuffing), and topped it off with fresh mozzerella. Very good dinner! :)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This was excellent! This was excellent! Only thing I did was add minced garlic when I added the peppers and onions to the pan. Also I didn’t need that much water to mix into the stuffing, just mixed in a little at time until it was moistened. Put everything in the baking dish and mixed its together a little and baked according to the directions. Came out great and everyone loved it!! It was a nice change to the basic sausage and peppers. Will make again!!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from I made this recipe and it was very good...but I changed a few things. I made this recipe and it was very good...but I changed a few things. I used ground Italian sausage by Johnsonville and I also used orange&yellow bell peppers too. Instead of using a 15oz can of sauce I used an 8oz, it made it less mushy. Then I used fat free mozzarella cheese for topping. It turned out great, my kids loved it. I will definitely make it again.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This was fantastic. This was fantastic. I used what I had, smoked sausage 1/2 of each pepper, seasoned the sausage while cooking and the tomato sauce one was garlic, oregano, basil and the other was roasted garlic. Also while cooking the meat I added a few drops of hot sauce... YUMMY... :)

I served it as a dinner with no other sides added, and perhaps it would be fine as long as it only took up 1/4 of the meal.
