Made this for a labor day picnic. Used crushed pineapple and sliced a banana on top after soaking the banana in the skin, in hot water, for 15 minutes so it wouldn't turn brown. Everyone LOVED it. Had many, many compliments.
A delicious dessert but not solid enough when done to be called 'bars' - would not be the greatest for a pot-luck enough you had spoons and bowls!
