Super-Chunk Oatmeal Cookie Mix

Whip up a jar of this cookie mix for a holiday or hostess gift. The recipient just adds butter, egg and vanilla for easy oat and chocolate chunk cookies.

What You Need

Cookie Mix

cup sugar

cup flour

cup quick-cooking oats

tsp. ground cinnamon

1/2

tsp. baking soda

1/4

tsp. salt

1-1/2

pkg. (4 oz. each) BAKER'S Semi-Sweet Chocolate, coarsely chopped

To Bake Cookies

3/4

cup butter, softened

egg

tsp. vanilla

Make It

COOKIE MIX: Layer all Cookie Mix ingredients in glass jar; cover with lid. Store at room temperature until ready to use to prepare cookies or give as a gift.

TO BAKE COOKIES: Heat oven to 375°F. Beat butter, egg and vanilla in large bowl with mixer until well blended. Add Cookie Mix; beat or stir until well blended.

DROP heaping tablespoonfuls of dough, 2 inches apart, onto baking sheets.

BAKE 12 to 13 min. or until golden brown. Cool on baking sheets 1 min.; remove to wire racks. Cool completely.

Please don't rate the recipe before trying it! It looked like a good idea, but I tried a batch myself before I gave out the gifts and was not very impressed. If you like flat, crispy cookies then they were good...and I followed the recipe exactly. Would brown sugar, margarine, and baking powder make a difference?

I could not find quart size maso jars this time of year but big lots had cute plstic christmas jars that worked great! Thanks for the tip to use choc. chips for the choc.!

You did not mention how big the jar should be. Please display the details about how big the jar should be when you fill it. It looks smaller than expected.

I used quart size mason jars. It turned out really cute. Next time I would use choc. chips b/c chopping up all the chocolate was a pain in the neck.

I plan to make about 20 decorative jars for gifts. The recipe appears to be easy and quick. will comment on the outcome perhaps at a later date

I have not made this recipe, but it is very creative. This would be a great gift to give at Christmas.

I made a bunch of these for friends for Christmas. They look beautiful. I did mine with ribbone and a snowman printout on the top. I would suggest buying a wider opening jar. the first batch i had wide mouth jars and the other were just regular. that was a bit frustrating as you can't pour a measureing cup into a regular jar opening. Everyone has so pleased to get this gift.
